Book Review: If You’ll Have Me by Eunnie

‘If You’ll Have Me’ by Eunnie is a stand-alone graphic novel that came out in 2023. It follows Momo and PG, two girls attending university, whose paths cross in the funniest of ways.

I loved this book. It had me laughing my head off. I loved how expressive and nuanced Eunnie was when she drew not only the comedic moments, but the more serious, deeper moments. This story navigates the girls coming into their own, falling in love and getting together, and how their meetings go from comical twists of fate, to scheduled hangouts, and then dates as they get to know one another. But rumours fly and people are cruel, and they have a lot to conquer if they’re going to come out on top.

I really liked how nuanced and deep each of the characters are in this world, and how Eunnie was able to give them a lot of personalities, primarily through the drawings on the page. My favourite moment was definitely when Momo and PG accidentally ran into each other in the supermarket pharmacy! I was in stitches!

I loved reading this graphic novel, it was well-written, beautifully illustrated, in full colour, and had a lot of heart. I can’t wait to read Eunnie’s next book, whenever it comes out!
